Discover Kho Kho
Meet the people behind Kho Kho Uganda, see how a match works, learn what a coaching course covers and follow our journey from a course in New Delhi to the World Cup podium.
A match seen from above: three defenders run while the chasers sit along the lane. The running chaser gives Kho to a seated teammate, who stands and takes over.
Chasers sit, defenders run
Watch the court from above. Eight chasers sit along the central lane, facing alternate ways, while a ninth chaser runs after the defenders. The runner cannot turn back mid-run. She can touch a pole and change direction, or give Kho to a seated teammate, who stands up and takes over.
- Defenders are out when a chaser touches them.
- Defenders go out in batches of three.
- It needs a flat space, two poles and players who want to run.
The animation is a simplified illustration. Courses teach the full rules, including fouls and penalties.
